Places to visit.
The ancient town of
Loule has a superb fish, fruit and vegetable market and is about three miles
away. Here in the narrow streets of the old town leather goods are made and
shoes and handbags can be bought very cheaply. Three miles east of
the villa is the old market town of Sao Bras de Alportel.
Drive north into the
eucalyptus groves at Barranco do Velho and enjoy spectacular mountain views. A trip to Seville
across the Spanish Border is now a few hours by car along the new motorway.
Lisbon, by
first-class train costs some £20 return and is a very civilised way to see the
Portuguese Capital. The famous beaches at Quinta do Logo and Vale do Lobo
are about 25 minutes drive as is the airport near Faro, the historic capital of
the Algarve. Portuguese dancing is great fun and usually takes
places on Saturdays.
